A useful appointment starts with your priorities: what is bothering you, what you have already tried, and what you want daily life to look like. You do not need to arrive knowing which product to choose.
Bring a complete medicine list
Include prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements. The National Institute on Aging recommends reviewing everything you take with your clinician because combinations can cause problems. Ask your clinician or pharmacist to review cannabis alongside that list before changing your treatment.
Questions worth writing down
What benefits are realistic for my condition? What side effects should make me call? How could this affect balance, alertness and my other medicines? What should I do if I feel unwell? What is the full cost, including follow-up appointments? Ask for instructions in writing and in a print size you can read.
Make the visit easier
Ask whether a trusted person can join you. Before visiting a dispensary, call about seating, step-free access, a quieter appointment time and any senior or hardship discount. Discounts vary; ask about eligibility and proof before traveling.
